The Glassworks and Mini Brewery trading as \u201cNovosad & Son\u201d has been operating since 1993 in Nov\u00fd Sv\u011bt (Harrachov district) and is housed in a historic building dating back to 1712. Visitors can see the entire glass production cycle, including the manual processing in the grinding shop powered by a water turbine, established in 1895. This grinding shop is a monument of technology, entered to the UNESCO heritage list.<\/span><\/p>

The glass masters’ house, built in 1737, houses the Glass Museum. Exhibits documenting the ancient past and the contemporary history of the glassworks are presented here, e.g. old photographs, tools used for processing, and above all glass products, showing the development of the Harrachov glass output in terms of technology and decoration. On the premises of the glassworks there is a glass shop, a mini brewery, a restaurant and pools for beer-bathing.<\/span><\/p>

The glassworks in Nov\u00fd Svet was founded at the Jilemnice estate of the Harrach family. It continued the tradition and production of the former glassworks in R\u00fd\u017eovi\u0161ti. The first owner was Elias M\u00fcller. He adapted the manufacturing plant to the production of baroque crystal – he founded and organised a grinding shop and employed engravers, painters and gilders. From 1764, the company was taken over by the count’s family. Mainly utilitarian glass and hanging crystal chandeliers were produced. Semi-finished products were distributed to glass refineries in northern Bohemia and Silesia.<\/span><\/p>

Currently, the glassworks mainly produces luxury beverage glass and chandelier elements. It remains as the only active glassworks in the Karkonosze Mountains and the oldest still operating glassworks in the world.<\/span><\/p>
