Located at the confluence of three rivers &#8211; the Elbe, \u00dapa and Metua, it is an important road and railway junction. Described as the &#8220;city of parks and gardens&#8221;, it is one of the oldest Czech cities. In the place of the historical center, Prince Jarom\u00edr of the P\u0159emyslid family founded a fortified town at the beginning of the 11th century. In the Middle Ages, the city was protected by powerful city walls, but it was destroyed during the Hussite
