The Silesian House Museum in Ziębice was founded in 1931 and for many years it had been a typical regional museum, collecting memorabilia from Ziębice and the surrounding area. In the 1970s, it adopted a new specialised profile and changed its name to the Museum of Household Appliances, while since 2023 the museum has been operating under the name of the Museum of the Silesian House in Ziębice. As of today, the museum is the only institution in Poland with such a profile. However, it tries to combine the function of a specialist museum and a regional one. Its abundant collections are presented in the form of 10 permanent exhibitions.
Apart from old appliances from a historical town-dweller household, such as irons, mangles, washing machines, mixers, refrigerators, as well as cutlery and dishes, you can also find weapons, handicrafts and furniture, as well as art collections, including sculptures and paintings from the endowment of a Ziębice resident, painter, art restorer and connoisseur Joseph Langer (1865–1918). Among the exhibits there are also numerous items related to the activities of craft guilds, including an interesting guild altar, guild chests and traditional “wilkoms” (serving cups).
The museum provides classes and museum workshops for groups of 10 to 25 people.
