BOLESŁAWIEC is the largest of the currently active ceramic enterprises in Lower Silesia. After the end of World War II, the ceramic industry in Bolesławiec was reactivated, largely thanks to the involvement of Tadeusz Szafran, a well-known ceramic artist from Kraków. Among the most important effects of his work was the relaunch of the former Richard Reinhold’s factory in August 1946, which later operated as part of the Bolesławiec Pottery and Ceramics Works, and in 1964 became part of the Bolesławiec Ceramic Factory. In 1980, the Municipal Council approved the use of the city’s name in the company’s brand. In 1994, the organisational and legal form changed, the state-owned enterprise was transformed into a limited liability company and currently trades as Zakłady Ceramiczne “BOLESŁAWIEC” Sp. z o. o.

The intensive growth of interest in the beauty of Bolesławiec dishes is the result of combining modern design with many centuries of technological expertise built by generations of pottery masters. The company largely continues the old traditions in ornamented tableware ceramics, using the technique of underglaze decoration with stamps and brushes, but also develops modern product lines, with unique, innovative designs, while manually crafted and painted. A team of professionals from the Development Department is busy creating new collections, headed by the main designer – art director Marta Małoszyc. Ideas for new shapes and decorations are the result of combining the team’s sensitivity and artistic skills with current design trends. Cultural specificity of a customer market is also of great importance. Some dishes and collections are popular in the Polish market, and quite different ones in Germany, Korea or the USA. Decoration patterns offered by BOLESŁAWIEC include a variety of compositions, from very simple, traditional arrangements such as peacock eyes, dots and lines to very rich floral decorations and complex, intricate geometric ornaments. They are dominated by a cobalt shade, traditionally associated with Bolesławiec pottery, but other colours are also available: subdued shades of brown and green, pitch black, expressive reds, yellows or oranges.

Zakłady Ceramiczne “BOLESŁAWIEC” offers their products both in stationary stores and online. While in Bolesławiec, it is worth visiting the factory shop, which is located at 11 Kościuszki street. The store’s offer includes, among others: breakfast, lunch and coffee sets, various containers, platters and bowls, spice vessels, vases, other kitchen and decorative accessories, as well as washbasins and bathroom sets.
