Delicate Christmas decorations have been made from fragile blown glass beads in Ponikla for over a hundred years. The beading craft has been passed down from one generation to another in our region, and we try to develop and continue it. In 2020, the production of Christmas decorations from blown beads was entered to the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity as a living tradition.

The Rautis family factory has managed to retain all the original technologies and production processes. Each of the production facilities is open to the public. On a guided tour of the plant, you can see the entire journey of the glass beads before they reach the Christmas tree: blowing out of glass tubes above the burner, silver plating, dyeing and cutting, and finally assembly into the various shapes of Christmas ornaments.

Visitors can also test their skills during workshops and, with the help of an instructor, make their own Christmas bead decoration.

The company store offers about 600 types of bead Christmas decorations. The choice is really diverse – there are patterns produced as early as the 1920s, but also collections distinguished with modern design.
