The Forest Glassworks (Leśna Huta) in Szklarska Poręba was established in 1989 and initially dealt with the production and grinding of household glass. Its founder, Henryk Łubkowski, decided to use his many years of experience gained at “Julia” Crystal Glassworks and create a private company that continues the centuries-old glassmaking traditions of the region, dating back to the 14th century. The glassworks produces unique forms and vessels of truly characteristic design. The first products were beer mugs, over time the range was expanded to include vases, candlesticks, bowls and small glass accessories. Thanks to the fact that the mass-coloured glass is formed by hand, the products are marked with a really unique character.
Located at the foot of the Karkonosze Mountains, the plant is also open to tourists. On site, you can watch traditional glass blowing and hand-forming demonstrations, prepared by experienced glassmakers. It is a unique spectacle with the participation of light, colour and the molten glass. Old juggling tools and moulds are used in the glassworks, which gives the items produced here an added value of traditional, perfection-driven craftsmanship.
There is a company store on the site, where the entire range of glass products is available. Karczma Hutnika restaurant is located right next door.
